About the Artist

Gail Mardfin
Gail Mardfin grew up in Connecticut, attended Skidmore College, and graduated from Trinity College in Hartford. After moving to New Jersey in 1975, she earned a masters in studio art from Montclair University. She was head of the art department at Purnell School, a girls' boarding school, in Pottersville for 20 years, teaching a myriad of art mediums and courses. She started her own graphic design business in 1996 serving small and upstarting businesses.
After living 40 years in New Jersey, where she co-founded an Artists Open Studio Tour and ran the Awaken! International Film Festival, in 2015 she moved cross-country to northern California and now lives about fifteen minutes from her first - and only - grandchild, Azalea. She loves her Sonoma County lifestyle and is lucky enough to return to the cool East Coast every summer. She is an active member of AWS, the Art Workshop of Western Sonoma County and is once again teaching art to contemporaries who have the time and inclination to be exploring their own creativity. This brings her great joy, as she is a natural born teacher!
WHY "SEE THE GOOD"?
You cannot pigeonhole Gail’s art style or medium. She enjoys watercolor, photography, collage, acrylics, oil pastels, and mixed media pieces. The subject matter, whether visual or text-based, has always been about SEEING THE GOOD. Explains Gail, “I believe what we focus on, we get more of in our lives.”
Gail’s personal aspiration is to live each day with awareness and joy. Showing up in the world as an artist helps fulfill this intent. Click to read a lovely interview about Gail and her art, which appeared in the AWS April 2019 Newsletter.
Explains Gail, "Although influenced by countless books, teachers, and workshops, primarily it is my understanding of the Law of Attraction (especially the teachings of Abraham-Hicks) that has led most clearly to my peace and happiness."
In a nutshell: This is a vibrational Universe that operates through the over-arching Law of Attraction. We are powerful creators. Make peace with where you are, and reach for the best feeling thought or activity you can from where you are. Though not always easy, it is an exceedingly simple teaching. While we do not have the power to direct anyone else’s life or the circumstances of the world, we can choose our reactions to things in the moment, soothing ourselves in the present and vibrationally creating more positive outcomes — for ourselves and for the planet — in the future.
There is a huge Source of Good that knits this Universe together and when we consciously choose to relax and “let go of the oars of the boat on the Universal Stream of Well Being,” it is amazing how perfectly things can work out — or not! A deep belief in the Goodness of All That Is, knowing that I am the Creator of my own life, and utilizing this powerful Law, have led me to the greatest inner peace and happiness I’ve known. I am also extremely grateful for the Centers for Spiritual Living, which teach our Oneness and our personal Creative Power. I was a member in NJ and now attend the one in Santa Rosa, only a mile walk from my house.
Gail shares her spiritual beliefs through her artwork, whether overtly or not. And it is so rewarding to see how many people resonate with these ideas! “Creating art is fun for me, and though the medium and the style I work in may vary, I hope you will feel this positive vibe reflected in all my pieces,” she invites.
